MaryLou Robson

Mary Louise Smith was born on October 12, 1946 to Daniel & Mary Margaret (Peg) Smith. At the age of 18 she married the love of her life, Thomas Robson, beginning a marriage filled with love, family, adventure, and many miles traveled. MaryLou and Tom were blessed with two children, Daniel “Danny” and Kristina “Krissy.”

As an Army wife, MaryLou embraced the opportunities that military life brought to her family. The many places they lived and visited sparked her lifelong love of travel and adventure. She especially loved planning trips for her family, making sure there was always somewhere new to explore and a new memory to make. Even as her children grew older, MaryLou never stopped being the family’s vacation planner.

Her love for others extended well beyond her own family. MaryLou was deeply involved with the USO, volunteering her time to make care packages, fundraise, and support troops and military families. After relocating to Schenevus, MaryLou became an LTA for OAOC BOCES helping children with special needs and behavioral issues until she retired. MaryLou was passionate about her job, often putting in personal time and money to create materials that would help her students in the classroom and on job sites. Helping others was simply part of who she was.

Of all the titles MaryLou held and all the work she did throughout her life, her favorite was Mom and Grandma. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and wife who put her family first and found her greatest joy in the people she loved. Her kindness, devotion, sense of adventure, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

MaryLou will be deeply missed by her husband, Tom; her children, Danny (Leah) and Krissy; grandchildren Ashley, Madi, and Zach; and all of her family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Her greatest legacy is the love she gave her family and the countless memories she created along the way. She may no longer be here to plan the next trip, but the journeys she took her family on—and the love she carried with them—will last a lifetime.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:00 PM in the Grummons-Bookhout-Bennett Funerals and Cremations, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Stephen D. Fournier officiating. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
