Nettie P. Solovitch

Nettie was born August 24, 1931, the daughter of Alford and Myrtle (Banker) Packer. She married Andy Solovitch on July 16, 1950.

She was a loving mother, grandma, and Big Grandma. She enjoyed our family parties, rides in the car, spotting bald eagles, proud to be an American, the warmth of the sun on her body. Spring was her favorite time of year, loved to see the green of the grass and leaves, and the flowers of Spring.

Nettie graduated from Oneonta High School 1948. In her early years, she worked as a legal secretary, later became a homemaker and stayed home with her kids. Worked at Fox Nursing home from 1985-1987, then worked at AO Fox, Central Processing Unit, from 1987-2001.

Nettie enjoyed traveling. She traveled the whole Eastern Coast. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, especially the robins in spring, going out to eat, playing cards, fishing, spending time with her family and friends.

She was a "tough old broad"

Nettie is survived by her children, Drew Solovitch, Mark (Kelly) Solovitch, Tim Solovitch, and Lynne Solovitch.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jane (Dan) Utter, Kristopher (Taka) Solovitch, Teri, Dustin, and Summer Solovitch; her great grandchildren, Kaede Ogi, Rebecca Velasco, Natasha, Rylee, and Ashton Solovitch, Dylan and Austin Utter; her daughter-in-law, Barb Champlin; her pets: Fluffy, Little Babe, Scrappy, and the chickens.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Alford Packer; ex-husband, Andy Solovitch, and her daughter-in-law, Donna Solovitch.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February, 14, 2014 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, with Mother Sue Cole, officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
