He was born on February 14, 1941 to Carmine and Ernestine Dono in Brooklyn, NY.
Never have you met a more impressive man. Kind, compassionate, and cunning wit come easily to mind when thinking about him. Nicholas met the love of his life, Lorraine (Russo) when they were teenagers hanging out in the parks and beaches of Brooklyn, NY.
While working on a degree in physics from Fordham University, IBM recognized his brilliance and hired him. Nick worked to create many patents that helped to develop the computer systems we know today.
The adventurous couple moved away from family and the city life they knew to Dutchess County, NY in 1962. There they had their sons, Richard and Jonathan.
Eventually, they moved to Hopewell Junction where they lived for 30 years before moving to Oneonta to be closer to family. Nick enjoyed his family very much as well as the close friendships that he had. He was very involved in his sons’ lives, coaching soccer, fixing cars, etc. He loved sailing and was an avid tennis player for most of his life.
Nick is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his sons, Richard and Jonathan, his sister, Carmen Bergman, and his grandchildren, Gregg, Matthew, Anya, Jamie, and Beckett, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
