He was born on July 2, 1946 in Albany, the son of Peter Paul, Sr. and Frances (Croshaw) Molinari.
Peter attended SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Albany, earning his bachelor’s degree in business. He served in the military during the Vietnam War and earned a silver star for his service. For most of his adult life, Peter owned and operated retail stores in downtown Oneonta, most notably the Palace Cigar Store, founded by his family, and the Rose and Laurel Bookshop.
When he was able, he could be found walking his dog, playing poker, or on the golf course.
Peter is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Maynard (Mark); and two grandsons, Alex and Leo Maynard; his sisters, Susanna Molinari of San Rafael, California, Mary Anne Nugent of Suffern, Diane Molinari of Latham, and Joanne (Art) Haber of Kingston; his former wife Janet Potter; his longtime friend and housemate Cheryl Carter; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Frances, in 1952; and his father, Peter Molinari Sr. in 1992.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 3 to 5pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Oneonta Historical Society or the Susquehanna SPCA.
