Raymond J. Burkart

Born on February 25, 1933, to the late George and Ruth Burkart of Bayside Hills, Queens, Raymond served as an altar boy and Bingo volunteer at St. Robert Bellarmine RC Church, where he met the love of his life, Carol Christine Sullivan. They were married on July 13th, 1957 and celebrated their golden anniversary in 2007. Carol predeceased him in January 2008.

Raymond is survived by his four loving children: Raymond, Jr. (Barbara) of Freeport, NY, Mary of Ellenville, NY, Thomas (Susan) of Newbury, NH, and John (Lisa) of Trumbull, CT, as well as grandchildren: Christopher, Thomas, Emily (Patrick), Erin, and Jonathan, and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are Tuesday evening, August 31st, 5:00 – 7:00 at Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta. A Mass of Transferal will be on Wednesday, September 1st at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Oneonta with Rev. David Mickiewicz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
