Butch was born June 6, 1959, in Libertyville, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Doris (Brown) Barriger, Sr. He married the love of his life Darlene R. Walley after being together for 7 years on September 7, 1991, in Unadilla.
A long-time area resident, Butch worked for Amphenol in Sidney for 23 years as a machinist. He had many hobbies such as woodworking. Butch made homemade wooden toys and jewelry boxes. He also had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed anything to do with camping. One of Butches’ favorite things to do was go fishing. He was an avid fishermen and fished in many lakes including Cayuga Lake where he often attended fishing tournaments. Butch fished in all of the Great Lakes with his long- time friend Bucky Harp, and went deep sea fishing several times. Butch also enjoyed auctioneering.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Darlene Barriger of Sidney Center; his father, Raymond Barriger, Sr.; mother-in-law, Rose Stilson; two sons, Raymond Barriger, III of Afton and John and Tamara Barriger of Sidney Center; one daughter, Diana Ross of Sidney Center; five loving grandchildren, Haley Barriger, Domenic Babcock, Emily Alvarez, Hollie Alvarez, and Brody Barriger; his siblings, Doris (Dan) Sherman of Guilford, William (Rhonda) Barriger of Sidney, Clifford and Tammy Barriger of Sherburne, Richard (Amy) Barriger of Watersmeet, MI, Robert (Carol) Barriger of Sidney Center, Raileen Oakley of Sidney Center and Lilah (Josh) Houck of Unadilla; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Butch was predeceased by his mother, Doris.
A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held at the convenience of the family at later date.
