He was born May 13, 1949 in Oneonta the son of the late Norman Henry and Janet Gaston (Wilcox) Haines.
He enjoyed going on adventures, traveling, reading, watching tv, fishing and listening to the radio.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Judith Lynn (Richard) Koopman of Milford Center and Jacqueline O’Dell of Laurens; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell W. Haines.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta from 10-11am.
Funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Mel Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
