Roberta Jean Williams passed away peacefully Thursday February 27,2025 at A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home in Oneonta NY. Bobbi was born January 11, 1939 in Stamford NY to Winfred L. and Edna M. Rickard (Moore) of Maplecrest NY. At the age of 2 she moved to Oneonta with her mother and grew up at 95 Maple Street. Her younger school years were spent at the Oneonta Normal School “Bugbee” where she developed lifelong friendships with many. After moving to their new house on Goodyear Lake with her mother and father, George E. Hacklin, Bobbi graduated from Milford Central School in 1957. While at Milford she played sports, was a drum majorette, and cheerleader.
In 1960 she married William J Rogers in Oneonta NY with whom she shares Michele M. Rogers of Hampton Virginia, Colleen A. Rogers of Edmeston NY, and William J. Rogers II of Davenport NY all of whom survive. In 1985, after many years together, Bobbi married Roger Williams and continued to live in Oneonta. Roger pre-deceased her in 2013.
Bobbi had a lifelong love of nursing which she always credited to E. Hope Rogers as her start along that path. She worked as a candy striper and aide at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta early in her career. After the birth of her children and a move to New Berlin NY, Bobbi spent several years working at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin at the very beginning of its construction and opening. While at Chase she continued her education nights in Oneonta to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Bobbi then spent many years employed at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in pediatrics, discharge planning, anesthesiology, and eventually closing her career with Dr. Webster Stayman at his private practice.
Throughout her able years Bobbi enjoyed being outdoors, spending time along the shores of Goodyear Lake with friends, bowling, picnicking, playing golf at Riverbend in New Berlin, Cee Jay in Laurens, Woodhaven in West Oneonta and, of course, rooting for the NY Yankees. Bobbi was also well known for her extensive collection of gnome figures which continued to her stay at the nursing home.
While she cast a heavy “management” eye during her stay at A. O. Fox Nursing home, Bobbi and her family want to thank the entire A.O. Fox Nursing Home and the very special people who cared so much for her. Special thanks to her direct nurses, aides, housekeepers and physical therapists that she loved dearly, you know who you are. Many thanks to the whole A.O. Fox family for the care so lovingly provided and, much too often, unrecognized.
Along with her children Bobbi is survived by her brother George E. Hacklin Jr. and Leslie Bollinger of Rockland Maine, daughter in law Aida L. and grandson Benjamin Orin Rogers. Grandchildren Ephraim Jacob Tuttle (Deena) and their son Aiden Tuttle of Boston Mass, Kristin Hope Rogers of Philadelphia and her children Ember, Rioux, and Casheus. Step daughters Faye Williams, June (Scott) Reese, Granddaughter Katherine (Katy) Madnick and her daughter Kera. Bobbi also has an extended family including cousins, nieces and nephews and many she considered to always be family including her very special lifelong friend from Milford NY Leonore (Buhr) Yelle now of Gloversville NY and Florida.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 05, 2025 in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM.
As Bobbi always considered Oneonta her home, reveled in its rich history, and was a great classic movie fan, any donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Oneonta Theatre.
