
He was born on February 6, 1921 in Delhi, the son of Claude and Hazel (Signor) Cole. He married Marjorie Kennedy on September 20, 1947.
Roger attended and graduated from the A. L. Kellogg Central School, Treadwell in 1938.
A WWII Veteran serving in the US Army, Mr. Cole was a member of the American Legion for over 30 years.
He worked at Delwood Creamery, Fraser, NY and the Treadwell Lumber Company, Treadwell.
In his retirement, Roger enjoyed several years reupholstering furniture.
Roger is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Cole of Oneonta; his children, Dan and Arlene Cole of Marana, AZ; John and Donna Cole of Oneonta; Chet and Pamela Cole of Martinsburg, WV; and Lori and Scott VanAllen of Central Square; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Nina Carey of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Marvin, Gerald and Nelson Cole; and a sister, Olia DeRock.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi with Rev. Bert More officiating. A luncheon and informal calling hours will be held immediately following from 1-3 p.m. at the Little Red School Community Club House, 516 County Highway 11, Oneonta, NY 13820 which will also serve as an opportunity for friends and family to gather and remember Roger.
