Vivian M. Brown

ONEONTA – Vivian M. (Goodspeed) Brown, 85, of Oneonta, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta. She was born October 29, 1932 in New Berlin, to the late LeRoy C. and Rose V. (Decker) Goodspeed. She married Robert A. Brown on September 10, 1949; they had 58 years together before he predeceased her on May 13, 2008. For many years, Vivian was a stay-at-home Mom but in later years she worked at FBC and JJ Newberry and later retired from Aramark Food Services. In more recent years, she did volunteer work in the Hospice Thrift Store. She is a past member of the F.O.E. Ladies Auxilliary. She is survived by her children: Robert (Carole) Brown, Cheryl (Frank) Woodcock, Bruce (Robin) Brown, Nancy (Stan) Meyers, James (Yon) Brown, Lee Brown, and Michael (Nicole) Brown; 19 grandchildren plus their spouses and/or significant others; and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers and a sister, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by a son (David), two brothers, and a sister. Vivian’s children are very grateful for the loving care that was given to Mom by the staff at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am on Saturday, September 1, 2018 with the Rev. Donna Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
