

Warren was born on March 23rd, 1947 in Glens Falls, NY. He was raised in Hudson Falls, NY and graduated from Hudson Falls Central School in 1964. Following high school, Warren completed an A.A.S Degree from SUNY Morrisville in 1966. Soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, achieving the rank of Radarman 2nd class. Warren was stationed in Georgia for over a year before completing his enlistment aboard the Aircraft Carrier CVA-62, USS Independence. Warren was honorably discharged from serving his country in 1971 and returned to college at SUNY Oswego in 1972, earning a B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Hecontinued at Oswego to earn his M.S. Degree in Industrial Arts Education, graduating in 1975.
Following his graduation, Warren began his 28 year career as the Industrial Arts/Technology teacher at Laurens Central School (LCS) in Laurens, NY. There, he enjoyed teaching his students woodworking, technology, and many other invaluable life skills. During this time, Warren met and married June Cariddi, the 3rd grade teacher at LCS. Together, they built their home on Airport Road and raised three children. Warren retired from teaching in 2003, for health reasons.
Warren led a simple life at home with his family and attended mostly all schoolmusic and sports functions in which his two sons participated. Both he and his wife, June, were also very dedicated to care and provide for the many special needs of their developmentally disabled daughter, Denise. Only families who have special needs children can fully understand the daily challenges they face and sacrifices the whole family must make. Warren wanted to extend a personal thank you to all who helped with Denise’s care, education, and well-being. Warren’s family would also like to extend a special thank you to the many dedicated healthcare workers with whom Warren had interacted over the years.
Warren is predeceased by his parents, Neil and Noella Townsend, and his sister, Arleen McDevitt.
Warren is survived by his wife, June Townsend, and his three children, Brian Townsend of Albany, NY, Casey Townsend of Perrysburg, OH, and Denise Townsend who is cared for at home. He is also survived by his other sister, Dr. Aileen Townsend of Oriskany, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Following his wishes, Warren will be cremated and there will be no calling hours. A private family service will be held at their convenience, under the care and guidance of the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta, NY.
