Wayne Everett Kniskern

He was born September 8, 1933 in Oneonta the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Grant) Kniskern.

Wayne married Janet Luriella Stevens on August 10, 1951. They celebrated their 70th Anniversary this year.

He has been a member of the Main Street Baptist Church since April 1956. Wayne sang at many people’s wedding and funerals. He wanted to share his gift of song and God’s gift of eternal life to all.

Through the years he was a member of the choir, soloist, steward, youth choir director and deacon. He was happiest when helping and doing for others. He loved to drive and would take anyone that called and needed to get to the airport, train station etc.

He drove truck for Holmsom Bread; worked at the Daily Star in the Circulation Department and later retired from SUNY Oneonta in the Custodial Department.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Janet Kniskern; three children, Wayne Richard (Diane) Kniskern, Deborah Joan (Eric) Ransick and Rebecca S. Connolly; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne (Amanda) Kniskern, Karen Kniskern, Kate Lynn Kniskern, Michael Patrick (Andrea) Kniskern, Jonathan James (Alexandra) Connolly, Megan Anne Connolly (Angelo Carimando), Matthew Scott Ransick and Kimberly Janet Ransick; as well as 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, James Connolly.

A service to celebrate the life of Wayne Everett Kniskern will be held at a later date.
