

She was born February 20, 1949 in Oneonta, New York the daughter of Clifford Gorse Gray and Annie Allenstein Bech Gray.
Susie graduated from Laurens Central School in Laurens, New York as a member of the National Honor Society. She was a dedicated, licensed LPN her entire life, a fact that she shared with every caregiver she met along her journey. Susie also achieved a bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Susie married Joe Stepp on June 23, 1968.
Susie was a lifetime member of the Laurens American Legion Auxiliary and was found annually reciting ‘In Flanders Fields’ for the Memorial Day celebration.
She loved nature, especially hummingbirds and was a steward for the environment protecting wild animals wherever she lived. She loved children and was often referred to as a second Mom to many. Her commitment to her community was steadfast. She loved to sew and knit. Her gardening capabilities were strong, always keeping fresh tomatoes and cucumbers growing for her family.
Yvonne Susan Stepp is survived by her loving children Lee Joseph Stepp, and Kelly (John) Miller, her grandchildren Gage Nathaniel Stepp, Jack HT Miller, and Dania Lea Miller. Her sisters Coleen Gray and Cindy Gray, and her brothers Gary Gray and Kim Gray. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Annie Gray; and sisters, Linda Gray and Robin Hartzel.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 2:00-4:00pm, followed by a gathering at the Laurens American Legion.
