

He was born July 8, 1943 in Herkimer the son of the late Zell and Edith Louise (Yule) Butler.
Zell proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
On March 22, 1985, Zell married Susan Wheeler in Wethersfield, CT.
For many years, Zell was an electrical contractor and owned and operated Zell Butler Contractors, Inc. in West Hartford, CT. He loved his trade and enjoyed teaching electrical to students.
Zell enjoyed boating, fishing and kayaking. He was an accomplished wood worker and loved remodeling projects. He raised, showed and finished German Shepards. But Zell’s greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with them.
He was a past commodore of the Middlesex Yacht Club in Chester, CT.
Zell is survived by his wife, Sue Butler of Oneonta; 5 children, Jessica Campbell and husband Sean of Plymouth, CT, Kris Butler of Bantam, CT, Melanie Butler of Boston, MA, Sarah Butler, Burlington, CT and Lance Butler and wife Nancy of Manchester, CT; 2 sisters, Sylvia Vaughn and Jim of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley Seyboth of Voorhesville; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Butler.
Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1:00PM in the Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.
