I remember You Lama the Most when You&&Vili would Always drive out 2 Reno every Summer and Pick Up my Brother and I. I was so little to the point where I knew NoBody but My Mom&&My Brother!!...You would always do the most to get Me to go with you guys because you were trying to get Us to come back to L.A.
Even though I still always cried, you always did whatever in your power to make sure I was Ok. Every time we went to a store you Always bought ME whatever I wanted (which was candy..lol..) and honestly that made me start liking You&&Vili a little more each time. I know...it sounds Horrible!...But I was a Kid!!...lol...
After a few summers I started getting used to you guys and Our Family In L.A. and I Thank You Guys For Always reaching out to My brother&&I. I’m sure if it wasn’t for You Guys we wouldn’t even know each other like that. Thank You For Loving US All as a Father. I Always thought that you were a “cool” uncle. 
Thank You for teaching Us your ways and how to be koo with Everyone. I Always remember people coming to Rialto&&asking for You and we would be like...who is that??...lol...You had many friends because you were literally the “cool guy”and that’s wassup Lama. Your memories live forever.

My beloved little brother Malama, not a day goes by since you've left us that I don't think of you.  I have so many sweet memories of you and this small space is not enough, but only in my heart will these memories can be contain and that is where it will be forever remain.  I really missed your smile and our talks and laughs, our deep conversations, advices and jokes that you shared with me.  You will always be forever in my heart.  I love and missed you very very much, and kiss to the sky till we see each other in the next world.

Man Lama I remember back when I was a kid your tickles were not fun especially coming from you. I hope you know that the reason why I would run away from you it's not because I want to play with you it's because your painful tickles. Your rough hands and aggressive touch is not what kids like to be tickle. But, seeing you that you want to play it felt like I have a friend that I could play with. Also, I like hearing stories when you would always do crazy stuff like stealing a christmas tree in front of one of the stores in Concord where my parents and I used to live. You carried the tree back to the apartment and set it up just for me on Christmas. You know Lama the hard times I have to go threw in boot camp there were times when I felt like I want to quit especially when I heard the bad news that my loving uncle passed away. I was really sad of course but, what kept me going is accomplish on becoming a marine just for you Lama because I don't want to come back after three months of training and not becoming a marine. So,I kept pushing myself until I earned the title of Marine and I hope you know I did it for you. Lastly, I just want to say that I am very grateful for being there for my brothers, sisters, cousins, and myself. I miss talking to you and seeing your smiling face.
 
It’s still very surreal to me as if it’s a dream that I have not woken up from. Very hard to accept the reality that I can no longer call or tell you in person that I love you. You knew how much I cared and loved you and you took full advantage of it. I have so many fond memories of you Lama, too many to mention. You lived a simple and fulfilled life, unselfish and always put other’s needs before yours. You lived everyday to the fullest and held true to your life motto: Everything Will Be Ok’, even up to the last days leading up to your passing. Lama, you had many talents and wore many hats, but the most decorated hats I admired most were your ‘loving’ and ‘kind hearted’ hats. These were your true colors and I will always remember you by those hats. I was blessed to have you in my life for 47 years. And as much as I miss you Lama, I know deep down that you are in a much better and peaceful place, and Everything Is Ok. I love & miss you so much and I will cherish your memories (and Tevita) for the rest of my life. Rest in Paradise, until we meet again. Your sister…….Sisi.

I didn’t even think this day would come so soon but I had to write something.even though we would only see each other in the summer from when I was little but man it would be a good summer.i would learn things from working with you,kicking back at Rialto or anywhere we would be listening to your jokes and what some of the songs meant and even knowing what not to do when I get older lol.i can’t put into words all the memories we’ve had but thanks for them.as long as my brains works lol I will not forget them.i know I had something to do with you getting hurt because I remember one summer(I forgot which one it was)but we were playing basketball and you was in my way so I kinda like bumped you and like jumped over you to make a basket and then after that you was complaining about your neck hurting but I’m not going to let that get to me because that’s what happens when you play with the big boys lol.As long as I’ve known you didnt let anything get to you from that basketball game we had to the time you got hurt you’ve always had a positive mind set and didn’t show any weakness and for that I admire and will try to hold on to that but as for everything else I’m not going to hold onto it lol you can keep that lol.you wont be forgotten and you’ll forever be missed.OFA LAHI ATU LAMA!!tell my dad we said hi and that we love him very much from me my wife and all the kids and please help him watch over us and tell him about his grandkids.its never goodbyes it always til we meet again!!sleep in peace to the both ya!!kisses to the sky❤️❤️.see ya laters hopefully not soon lol.

Oh lama, where to begin. I will never forget when I was in elementary school, the times you always took me to the liquor store to get whatever I wanted while you get your beer & then when it was time to pay you always looked at me and asked “where’s our money” lol I never had money but that never stopped you from asking the owners if we can pay them back later. The summer you were in the hospital when you got hurt was the most memorable for me. Always wanting to come sit by your side or even in the waiting room for hours just to come in and bother you lol the moment I found out I was having a son, you were the first person that came to mind who he should be named after. Little Alataisi will hold your name for eternity Lama! We miss you so much 😭 And we love you forever!

My dearest uncle “Lama”
After your passing, on our drive home from your funeral to the Bay.. it hit me that you were no longer here with us .  😓 Thank goodness Bia , P and the kids were sleeping b/c I was crying hella ugly on the road 🤦🏽‍♀️😩😂  Oh Lama , so many sweet memories with you growing up in Rialto I can’t put into words... these precious memories can only replay in my head and thank God for them b/c those are Forever. 🔐 Selfless, big hearted , kind, respectful , FUNNY uncle of mines, I miss you immensely and I thank you for all the love , advice , scolding and lectures you gave me throughout my upbringing.. I miss and love you so much and may you rest in Gods loving arms❤️   “stuppittttttt” (lama would slap me upside my head playfully when I was little and call me stuppitttttt) 😂

In the mid summer it was only me and lama inside the house in rialto everyone went to work or they went to the store. And i just had woke up and i smell this delicious bacon coming from the kitchen i walk in and saw lama. I was so surprised that i saw him cooking because most of the times that i saw him was when he was either drinking alone or with some friends. So he called me to come and eat and i was sooo hungry but i felt bad because he was just sitting there watching me eat so i asked him do you want some and he said"no i already ate" and i was like are you sure he said "YES!!!" i laughed a lottle so he dosen't hear me laugh before i get smacked. So after when i was done we went to the park me, lama, and simba(the best dog that we all loved) and lama used to push me on the swings and play hide and go seek....huhhhhh good times......but now i went with vili and he slept for the whole time we were there.😂😂😂 See you and simba and all the family up there later im coming soon💓.

U shouldn't be gone. My heart is broken 💔  Everyday u will be in my thoughts Al. I just had to share this picture of us because its another great day with u i will never forget. I have so much memories of my uncle but the one that I will always remember is his love for reggae music. He’d always explain to me the philosophical meaning behind them. I remembered in Spring 2016 when I took a Philosophy class at Fullerton College and I had to look up a song that has a philosophical meaning behind it and present it. I have been waiting for this opportunity to explain a song to someone just like how my uncle would explain a song to me. Ive always wanted to sound so deep and so smart just like my uncle. He is so clever!!! So I chose a really cool song that was one of his favorites, “Mr. Sea” by Eddie Lovette. I was the last one to present in the class and first you have to play the song while the lyrics are up on the screen so everyone can follow along and then explain it. I’m looking at everyone and my teacher nodding their heads listening to the song. I honestly felt like I was at Rialto in the garage with my uncle, so I presented and explained it easily just like how my uncle would explain it to me. After I was done, my professor asked me, “How the heck did you come up with that?!?!” “That is so clever!!!” My professor played the song again bcuz he liked it so much until it was time to go. It was the coolest experience I’ve ever had in college. I regret for not telling my professor that my uncle came up with the philosophical meaning, but I did tell my uncle that I did a presentation on this song. He was like “You did?!?!” And I told him “Yes, and I got a 100% on it.” He started crying bcuz I looked up to him and learned something from him and especially incorporated it into my school. He felt soo proud about it :) I’ve always looked up to you Uncle and still will! I learned so much more from you than anybody! You taught me so much! I will never forget our deep talks and your words of encouragement! You’re so smart and so compassionate! You have always and will forever be in my heart! I love you and God bless you! 

Patients who became friends..friends who became family 💙  I will miss our great friendship Al .. you touched my soul and have left an irreplaceable void in my heart  ...

We were at my auntie Ista' s house down at Upland where they had a swimming pool. I remember the time when I didn't know how to swim, and Lama seen me walking around the pool instead of going in. I knew what Lama was going to do, but it was too late. He grabbed me and threw me into the pool and he also grabbed David as well. I had a really good time.

I don't really have good memories with him, it's a blur right now. I do remember when I would tell Lama that I'm hungry and he would always make ramen noodles, but every time he made it, it would be sooooo hot. Every time, he makes the noodles, I would whine about how hot it is and he would say, "Just eat the food. " Then I would reply, " Next time, ill make my own noodles and I did. Those memories will stay with me forever.

Hmm what to say about this crazy Uncle of mine..?.. He was a headache, a pain, an annoyance that would bug you until you gave in.. he told the corniest jokes n he swore he was some kind of RicoSuave lol.. He was pretty popular and befriended everyone he came across.. He had a generous soul and loved his family whole heartedly. Lama had stories to tell for days about anything you asked him. His favorite talks included those about life and the meanings of songs and how he related to them.. especially “Slave” by Lucky Dube.
My favorite memory of Lama is when I was about 5 or 6. I remember he was hanging out with all the guys outside my house, and I ran up to him. He picked me up and I whispered in his ear, “You’re my favorite Uncle!” He smiled so big at me (and for ALL of you haters/siblings of mine lol) and said, “You’re my favorite too.”
Thank you Lama for all of the memories, laughs, and life lessons you taught me. You will forever be my favorite Uncle for always. I love n miss you to the Moon&back. You will never be forgotten 💙 Rest easy Uncle.!


I remember when my grandmother gave me her home....The first improvement i made to it was relocating the front door...So i asked Malama if he could help me build a new front steps, he came over the next day and handled it like a PRO....
He also helped me move a 1-ton Giant 3 tier bird bath into my backyard....with a neighbor of his help We handled it like pro's....
He was always smiling ,and laughing .I will always remember my Brother ,and am so happy i have something to remember him with....   Jad Andre

So many memories to choose from, but the one that stands out the most for me is Super Bowl 50! That was the first time you met my boys and that same day you introduced us to a football pool. You guided us through the game and how it was played. We laughed and laughed and ate and ate! I won a small pot and we treated ourselves to lunch the next day. You were always thinking about others and included everyone in the fun, even if it was with my kids. Thank you Al, for the many life lesson and advise shared with me throughout our 8 yr. friendship. You will never ever be forgotten my dear friend, Rest In Peace Lama. 

I so loved to talk to Malama, curtious, kind, respectful and love a good laugh.  My favorite memories were in Baha'i settings, Baha'i school, Lu Au's.  He would help with the BBQ, traditional dance, and was always willing to help in set up and clean up.  Malama was eight years old when I met his family in Ontario on Hollowell street.  How exciting it was for our Ontario Baha'i Community.  We knew nothing of Tongan culture.   Now years later I called upon him to fix a sewer pipe in our front yard.  He definately was not afraid of work and didn't hesitate to say yes to to my request.

Lama was to me the baby brother that I never had. It was very hard getting mad at him because you knew that he had a huge heart. He never said no whenever there was a job to be done. Whether it was cleaning up the back yard after one of our famous parties, or making one of his brick work creations. Lama was always there. Until we meet again baby brother, we’ll crank up the karaoke in heaven and sing “lyin’ eyes”, one of your favorite songs.

Alataisi Malama Fakava is a kind and very friendly person. He is also name after my grandfather whom I adore and love him for everything about him,reminded us of Malamalahi.  Malama Fakava is also a humble guy who have this cheerful attitude that you cannot resist smiling and laughing. His love for us was precious, I still remember 2010 when me and my mom packed our luggage to return home, while everyone gave us the best present there is to offer, he slowly slide into our bag a brown and golden purse. We cry, but that was the highlight of our trip to LA. Malama will always be a special person to us all, love and miss you.

Lama was of many names. He was a son.  He was an uncle.  He was a cousin, but for me, Lama was like a big brother, a friend, someone who can listen to what you have to say and made you feel important.  He never belittled us....He made us feel equal.  His energy was always positive, almost as if he wasn't paralyzed.  When we go visit him at the rehab or when he came to visit us, he was always in a good mood.  He was always the same person, sick or not, young or old: giving, caring, a big brother............We will miss you Lama...rest in peace

Lama! what was my best memory? oh i would say just knowing you and having u as my friend for 8 years.  you were a real friend, one i can share my secrets too and i know you would keep them to urself. you gave me years of advice and u were my shoulder to cry on. we shared tears, laughter and happiness. never once did we ever get into a disagreement. my special friend i will miss you immensely. you always told me everything will be alright..and i believe that now as i have you watching over me.  ill miss your jokes your laughter and ur warm flirty smile. i cant believe you are gone. You will never be forgotten.  im thankful to have known you and your beautiful big loving family. until i see you again my friend..rest in paradise. 

    I have so many great memories with Al of us just laughing about stuff. He had the best sense of humor. He always had such an easy going personality and was fun to be around. One nice memory i have of him is watching this movie called Life of pi with him. And talking about It after. He really liked that movie. So that memory just stands out alot for me.. Everytime i think of that movie, it reminds me of him... He was such a sweet person. I could never forget him. Im honored to have known him.
