Alysia was born March 2, 1985 in Yorba Linda, California to her adoring parents, Ralph and Deborah Cornell. A graduate of St. Lucy’s Priory High School in 2003, Alysia was a gifted student athlete, excelling in advanced courses and maintaining membership in the National Honor Society while also shining on the basketball court and in track and field. In 2007, Alysia graduated with honors from Baylor University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in forensic science with minors in chemistry and biology. An avid learner, in 2009, Alysia also earned her Master’s degree in forensic science from University of California, Davis.
For the past 8 years Alysia served the Tustin community as a Communications Officer, a Crime Scene Investigator, and recently as a Court Liaison. She was also a member of the Tustin Police Support Services Association and served as Vice President.
Alysia had a passion for science, people, sports, and solving mysteries. She enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors, including camping with family and friends, fishing, snowboarding, and riding any form of powersport vehicle (often kicking dust or water at those not fast enough to keep up with her). Alysia was a rock and a guide post, armed with an intellectual curiosity coupled with natural problem-solving skills and intuitiveness for those who were fortunate to have her in their lives. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
She is survived by her parents: Ralph Cornell and Deborah Cornell; her brothers: Aaron Cornell and Jeremy Cornell; her nephews: Gavyn Cornell, Teage Cornell, and Carter Cornell; many family members; and many friends who love her. Alysia will be forever remembered as a beautiful creation who was a gift to all the many lives she touched.
Alysia will be honored in a celebration of life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Hillside Community Church, 5354 Haven Ave. Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91737.
