Anna Marie (Cagle) Throop, 94, of Ontario, California, passed away peacefully at her home on June 20, 2026 with her two children at her side. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Anna was born in Mena, Arkansas and lived on a rural farm. She lived there for 12 years before coming to California. She grew up with no running water, no electricity and an outhouse! After moving to Ontario, she attended Vina Danks Junior High School and Chaffey High School. She was still active with the Class of '49, working on each of their reunions. She was still playing cards, one of her passions, with some of her '49 classmates. She attended Sierra Vista Baptist Church and was a member of their Board. She was also a member of the local Upland Travelers club.
She spent time working with her brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey and Lorene Cagle, in their furniture store in Upland, and then worked with the new owner for 20 years. After that "retirement" she went on in 1980 to study income taxes and worked with H&R Block for over 25 years.
Anna and her husband Roy, who passed in 2017, loved to play cards - bridge, pinochle, hearts, cribbage, and hand & foot. They always traveled with their cards and cribbage board. They loved to travel, and in 2015, she finally completed their lifelong goal of reaching all 50 states.
Anna is survived by her two children, Sharon of Ontario, California and Steven of Rogers, Arkansas. She had four grandchildren, Heather, Jeremy, Harold, and Larry. She had several great-grandchildren. Plus her extended Fontana family - Marc, Laura, Cody, and Jay Carp. Funeral services will be held at Draper Mortuary on July 7 at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to knotsoflove.org her favorite organization to support.
