Antonio was born in El Naranjo, New Mexico on February 13, 1937 to Anastasio and Hilaria (Silva) Macias. The son of migrant workers, his family moved frequently and settled in Murray, CA.
He attended Kettleman City Elementary School and Avenal High School. In 1955 he enlisted to the United States Navy, where he proudly served as an EM3 electrician on the AirCraft Carrier USS Princeton for four years.
In October of 1961 he married the love of his life Ramona. They lived in Kettleman City, eventually moving to Hanford, CA. This is where they would raise their four sons. Antonio's lifelong dream was to move his family to Southern California, and in 1987 his dream came to fruition. He first moved his family from Fontana, eventually settling in Upland in 2001 and calling Upland "home".
Antonio was a devout Catholic throughout his life. He instilled his values and beliefs in his home. He was always the first to step up, especially on Sundays. He would ensure that he and his wife had their sons in their Sunday best to attend Mass together. He was a man of few words and spoke with his actions. He led by example and prioritized family. He would start every morning with praying the Rosary and enjoyed reading books about his Faith. His daily routine also included reaching the Daily Bulletin newspaper, crossword, and Jumble puzzles.
His passion for watching his sons play football, basketball, and baseball was unmatched; rarely missing any practice or game. This tradition has carried on to his great-grandchildren. "Papa" was always in the stands!
Lastly, watching his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers winning the World Series was a great last season for him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ramona, his parents, Anastacio and Hilaria Macias, and his brothers Loretto, Alfredo, Agustin, Fernando, and Severo Macias.
He is survived by his children Alfredo (Hilda) Macias, Roberto (Yvette) Macias, Daniel (Julie) Macias, Marco (Leticia) Macias, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Rita Labrada and Guadalupe Macias.
