Elizabeth Ruisch
Elizabeth “Beth” Ruisch went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the age of 93. Beth passed away peacefully at Inland Christian Home in Ontario, California.
Beth was born at home on May 10, 1918, on the family farm in Sheldon, Iowa. She was the second child born to Walter and Esther Swets. Beth had an older brother, Tunis Swets (1914-1963) and a younger brother, Walter Swets, Jr (1927-1997). She graduated from Hospers High School, class of 1934, at the young age of 16.
In 1941, Beth married Theodore “Ted” Ruisch of Orange City, Iowa. They moved to southern California before Ted was deployed to serve in the U.S. Army in World War II. Ted and Beth settled in Ontario, where they owned and operated Inland Dairy Farm. They were blessed with three children and 57 years of marriage until Ted’s death on October 12, 1998.
Beth loved and served the Lord above all. She loved her family, loved to read the Bible, and was a faithful prayer warrior. She was a charter member of the First United Reformed Church of Chino. In her younger years, Beth was active in the Mother’s Club of Ontario Christian School. She worked for the Ontario-Montclair School District and Pomona Valley Hospital until her retirement.
Beth is survived by her children, Dale and Nellie Ruisch of Apple Valley, Rodger and Karen Drooger of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Larry and Lorae Vanden Berge of Ontario. In addition, she leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with two more arriving in 2012, sister-in-law Wilmina Swets of Long Beach, and dear nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Adrian, Marida, Joyce, Tracy, Robbie, and the entire staff at the Inland Haven for the excellent care they have so lovingly given to our mom. “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” Exodus 23:20
