Bonnie grew up in Lincoln and moved to California after the war. She lived here for over 50 years, raising 5 children. She worked for San Antonio Community Hospital, first as a medical transcriptionist during the '60s, then later as an admitting clerk in the '80s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ontario.
Bonnie kept in contact with her cherished childhood and high school friends from Lincoln. For seven decades this very close group of friends would enjoy special reunions of the 'Class of 1945', reminiscing about the old days of bobby socks and saddle shoes, going to the 'beach' on the river, and eventually sharing the sadness of losing much loved friends with the passing of the years.
Bonnie loved to crochet blankets for her large family. She would also hand sew baby quilts for every grandchild and great-grandchild as they came along. She had an extensive collection of anything 'Boston Terrier', loving that breed for most of her life. She was very proud of the military members of her family, placing stickers of the branches represented by her family on her front window, leaving no doubt to anyone who approached her door that she was a supporter of our troops.
Bonnie is survived by four of her children- Tim Olson (Debbie) of Vista, California; Dan Olson of Prescott, Arizona; Robin Coale of Apple Valley, California; and Susan Olson of Upland, California. She is also survived by an extended family- Rick Croy (Kelly) of Menifee, California; and Denny Croy of Los Angeles. Also her 12 grandchildren- Matthew Olson (Belle), Brian Olson, Scott Olson, Andrea Olson, Joshua Coale (Courtney), Megan Matrone (Gino), Dana Bennett (Kelissa), Lindsay Olson, Haven Olson, Erin Murphy (Chris), Courtney Mazzotti (David), and Timothy Croy. They blessed her with 9 great-grandchildren- Rendyll, Ellie, Trevor, Natalie, Aaron, Isabella, Nathan, Lilly, and Vincent.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her son Kim Olson, and husband Kenneth Croy.
Bonnie will be remembered at a graveside service at 10:30am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Bellevue Memorial Park; 1240 W. G Street; Ontario, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Cancer Society.
