Born in the San Fernando Valley, California, on February 20, 1942, he was the eldest of seven children to Frank and June Wucherpfennig.
Dave attended St. George Catholic School in Ontario, where he served as an altar boy. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Dave attended Upland High School, where he lettered in basketball and baseball, graduating in 1960.
From 1964-1966, Dave served in the US Army as a Medical Corpsman. After the army, Dave resumed his position as a Maintenance Mechanic at General Electric in Ontario, where he was employed until 1982. He went on to work for Northrop Grumman for ten years, where he was part of the team that helped manufacture the Northrop B-2 Spirit, also known as a stealth bomber.
Dave met his wife, Ellie, in 1966 through mutual friends. They were married in 1968, where he became a step-father to her two daughters. Dave and Ellie went on to have three children of their own.
Ellie always liked to share this story: When she was in 8th grade at St. George Catholic School, there was a little 4th grade boy that she thought was a "cutie." Years later, her future mother-in-law showed her pictures of a young Dave. To her surprise, "young Dave" was the little cutie she remembered from St. George!
Living in Ontario, Dave and Ellie started their family. They moved to Upland in 1979, where Dave spent his weekends coaching his daughters' softball and soccer teams. He was also an avid golfer, playing his 18 holes at Upland Hills Country Club.
Dave was a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Upland, where he served as an usher after retirement.
Dave was well-known for his love of popcorn and Bud Light.
Left to mourn his loss are his daughters Joann Beville (Doug), Theresa McKeehan (Sam), Victoria Olivier (Francis), and Cynthia Becker (Bob), brothers Chuck and Patrick Wucherpfennig, and sisters Theresa Bartol and Julie Kelly.
Dave had ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ellie, step-daughter, Dianna Carpenter, brother Steve Wucherpfennig, sister Ann Davis, and great-granddaughter, Sienna Romero.
