The youngest of two children and the family’s only daughter, Dolores grew up in a close-knit Portuguese family whose roots and traditions became an important part of the Portuguese community in Chino, California. Before her family moved to Chino, she proudly served as festival queen at the Artesia Portuguese Hall in 1952 and 1954. In 1958, her family moved to the dairy on Harrison in Corona, California.
A dedicated student, Dolores graduated as valedictorian of Chino High School and went on to pursue a career as an elementary school instructional aide.
In 1971, Dolores married Raul Pimentel, beginning a life together rooted in faith, family, and service. They were active members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Ontario, California, where Dolores sang in the church choir and served as director of the catechism program. Her faith was an important part of her life and reflected the kindness and devotion she shared with those around her.
Known affectionately as Dolly, she cherished time spent with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was baking with her nieces, who eagerly joined her in the kitchen. Nearly every cake that came out of her oven had their little hands—or fingers—helping along the way. These sweet memories became treasured reminders of the love, laughter, and warmth she brought to her family.
Dolores was also deeply devoted to her Portuguese heritage and the well-being of her extended family. In 1976, she and Raul, together with other family members, helped sponsor 14 relatives from Brazil as they immigrated to the United States to begin new lives. This generous act reflected the compassion, commitment, and strong family values that guided her throughout her life.
Dolores was a patient, caring, and loving woman of God whose life was defined by her faith, generosity, and devotion to family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Raul, and her parents, Joseph and Dolores Simas. She is survived by her older brother, Joseph Simas Jr., and her beloved nieces, Mary Jo Simas and Victoria Monteiro, who will forever treasure the memories and love they shared with her.
May she rest in the peace of God, surrounded by the everlasting love of her family in heaven.
