

Don was a proud United States Navy Veteran with his service beginning after enlisting just out of high school during the Korean War and was part of the crew of the USS Paricutin. When he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he returned home to Kansas and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in geology from Kansas State University. Post- graduation he made his way to California ultimately making his home in Rancho Cucamonga. His working career included Xerox Corporation in Pomona, California and Optical Radiation Corporation in Azusa, California where he ultimately retired from his position as President. Post retirement, he also proudly volunteered for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for several years and was a mentor for young recruits.
Don had several favorite things in life which included his love for vegetable gardening, ATV’s, wind surfing, exploring the United States and his Siberian Huskies.
He was a devoted, son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife Juanita; three daughters, Denise Lepire and her husband Randy, Cindy Deever and her husband Steve and Dee Winteler and her husband Robert; three stepchildren; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and his beloved Husky, Sassy.
There will be no funeral services and the family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Center, 1780 Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.
