Don was born in Illinois on July 16, 1936 to parents Olivette and Earl. He valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army, a commitment that reflected the steady sense of duty and respect that guided his life. He built a long and valued career as a telecommunications manager at GTE, earning the trust of those around him through his honesty, reliability, and considerate leadership.
Don met his wife, Pat, at work, beginning a partnership rooted in devotion and shared pride in the beautiful family they built together. He was a Christian man and remained deeply grateful for the people he loved, finding lasting purpose in family and faith.
A talented golfer, Don achieved a feat few can claim: a hole in one! He also enjoyed soccer, especially when his grandkids played and took genuine pleasure in socializing with family and friends. His appreciation for life’s good moments was evident in his love of jazz music, traveling the world with Pat, and simple favorites; BBQ ribs, ice cream, and IPA beers. He could also be counted on for a familiar comfort watch, with Uncle Buck holding a special place among his favorites.
Those who knew Don will remember a kind, gentle soul. He was respectful in manner, steady in character, and fun to be around. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he was so proud of.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; his children, Don (Kyra), Kelly (Donte), and Eric (Theora); his grandchildren, Tre, Keenan, Sierra, Lindsey, Miah, Kai and Curren; and his sister, Jackie Sullivan and our labrador, Bella.
