Donald served his country honorably as a SGT in the Vietnam War with the 25th Infantry. His service reflected a steady sense of duty and commitment, offered with humility and resolve.
Above all, Donald’s priority in life was sharing God’s love with others, and he spoke openly of his desire for their salvation. This guiding purpose shaped the way he lived and the way he cared for those around him.
Donald’s faith was matched by meaningful service to others. He was an impactful member of his community as a youth director for his church, a foster parent, and a Sunday school teacher, roles he carried out with devotion and a sincere concern for the lives entrusted to him.
He also brought a gifted, capable spirit to the everyday work of living. A craftsman in both skill and outlook, he took pride in creating and building. He was a published author, an outstanding cook, and someone who felt most at peace in the presence of nature, finding quiet strength and gratitude in the world around him.
The Lord called Donald home on May 31, 2026, at the age of 79. He passed peacefully at home with his wife and two daughters by his side and was transitioned in prayer. In his passing, Donald rejoined his siblings who have all gone home to be with the Lord.
Donald is survived by his wife, Valerie Lindwedel; two fostered daughters; ten nieces; eight nephews; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and grand nieces and nephews.
