

Emory Jackson, age 92 passed away Sat. Oct. 27th 2012. He was born on November 7, 1919 in Lizton, Indiana. He graduated from Pittsboro High School in Indiana and served in the United States Army during WWII, both in stateside and in Europe. After his discharge he married his sweetheart, Edith "Bernice" Wardrip and moved to Southern California where they eventually owned a gas station. After they sold the station, Emory began his career in the construction industry as a masonry helper; eventually becoming a general contractor. He started his own business, Emory C. Jackson Co. in Ontario, California. He built several familiar landmarks, including the Ontario Mule Car. The Castaway Restaurant, and several projects at Pomona Valley Hospital. He was an active member of the Ontario Elks Lodge #1419, the Upland Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Emory will be remembered not only as a father, grandfather, a friend, a contractor and a mentor, but also for his strong work ethic, his honesty, his values and for those who knew him, his politics. He is preceded in death by his wife Edith and son Michael. Emory is survived by his son Timothy (Linda) and Jackson of Salmon, ID, daughter Linda Dosh of Cortez, CO and daughter-in-law Margaret Jackson of Montclair, CA, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Services will be held at Draper Mortuary, Ontario on Nov. 6th at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served at the Ontario Elks Lodge at 12:30 PM.
