Fred Joseph McMahon

Frederick J. McMahon, Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Keck USC in Los Angeles, CA. Fred was born on March 4, 1948 in Wheeling, West Virginia. The son of Frederick J. McMahon, Sr. and Virginia Beirne Slonaker McMahon, the family lived in Dearborn, MI for a brief time before moving to Santa Monica, CA and later Anaheim, CA. Fred was a graduate of California State University Fullerton. Upon graduating, he began a 35-year career with the US Postal Service. Fred always loved the outdoors. Ever since he was a young boy, Fred enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hiking, cycling, and target shooting. In his retirement, Fred continued his service to the community. He volunteered at the local public library, teaching courses in English and citizenship. He earned a real estate license and took up traveling. Two of his favorites were visits to Rome, Italy and Angkor Wat, Cambodia. He often spoke fondly about them, sharing stories of his travels. Fred loved people and enjoyed talking with all he met. He is survived by two sons, Jon J. McMahon and Fred J. Espinosa.
