I will always be grateful to Mr. Mercer for his dedication to being an outstanding foster parent. He was  truly one of the best, along with his wife. We will miss him tremendously in our foster parent community.

Dad, u were a great soldier in gods earthly army! I know ur up there have the time of ur life with so many we love that have gone on too! Tell my real daddy hi and I luv him too! Thank you so very much for being a dad to so many left here! One couldn't ask for a better fine upstanding man for the Lord. Well done! I love u and ill hold you so very close to my heart and will hold in my heart ALL the memories we all had! I never forget the story from when I was a baby when u would try to play with me or talk to me I would cry! But I even luvd u then! Have lots of fond memories of "Uncle Jerry"(2nd cousin technically), but the one that had the most important impact on my life was the Sunday morning he was preaching in Ontario, one of those awesome hell fire sermons, and I accepted the Lord as my Savior! Praise the Lord he is rejoicing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! That was 30 years ago......Hugs and Prayers to the family!

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes your love ones watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. you sure made a great journey in Life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dad i tried to write on this before but i couldnt think of what to put theres so many things that youve done for people of both the church and foster care no matter what u did you lived your life for god and many people were blessed to have you in there life especially me i was blessed that u cared for us  so much that you adopted me april and danielle we were so lucky to have a great father like you i will love and miss you for the rest of my life and also cherish the time we had together … i love you daddy

We are so glad Jerry came into our lives.  He always had a way of brightening up the room with his warm smile, bright eyes, and positive outlook on life.  He will be deeply missed.

A father a friend a preacher truly the best of men. Honest and kind family and friends always on his mind. Gerald D Mercer was an amazing father he was a family man he loved his family. His wife and us kids ment the world to him. I think the thing that truly made him happy was seeing his children in church. My dad was honest and kind and tough but fair. He did what made him happy in life and loved it when the ones around him were happy. I know he is at peace now enjoying time with our father. I am blessed to have had him as my father.

Gerald D Mercer if you knew him you were blessed for knowing someone so truly kind. he was truly a child of god. He was a loveing father to alot of children.he loved his wife joanna and always did every thing he could to make her and his children happy in life. He always went out of his way for his family and friends even strangers. When he saw others happy around him he was happy. He was not a man to ask for things and he never turned down helping others. He was a preacher a friend a husband and he was the best father a child could want. I know he would be proud of all of his children and I know he loves us all. He is in the best place now with our father watching over all his children and friends.

This wonderful man had a huge heart. He was loving and generous to a fault. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. I will miss you Uncle Jerry but I am so glad you are at peace with Jesus. RIP I Love you!

My Uncle Buster( yes that is what we called him) showed us what love really was. When I couldn't afford to send my kids to camp he took them with him and my Aunt Margaret . They had four beautiful children(my cousins) but took in many more. His sense of humor was fantastic.Any time any one needed him he was there.  This year he was planning a trip and called me and said can we come by and see you?  I was so excited. I guess I now have to wait for our family reunion.  God bless you and see you one day soon.

Gerald Mercer was a loving father, devoted church member and devoted husband. His goal was to make people happy and give to others. He accomplished this by taking in children who needed a home, and adopting three girls who meant alot to him. He was everything to his wife, and all of his children. He will truly be missed, and he will always be thought of. We all loved him. Even though some people may not be able to show up for the funeral, he knows, the family knows that we care.

Jerry has been our friend for more that 40 years and he and I have spared back in forth in jest for that time.  He will be missed.  Our love to the family.
