Gissel Barrera passed away on 11/21/21. Gissel was a loving daughter, loving wife, sister, auntie, and sister-in-law. She will be missed by her mom, Myrna her brothers Fernando and Carlo, her nephew, Fernando Jr., her niece, Alexis, her sister-in-law Stephanie, Ken Bailey and friends. She has gone to God's Kingdom to reunite with her beloved father, Fernando and her adored pet Abby. Gissel was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Ontario, CA. She attended and graduated from Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Elementary school. She also attended Saint Lucy’s Catholic High School in Glendora, CA and graduated in 1990. Upon graduating from high school, she attended the University of California at San Diego receiving her bachelors degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish literature. Gissel started her professional career working for Washington Mutual Bank as a financial planner and continued her specialty at Merrill Lynch and other financial institutions. During her tenure she achieved her series 63, 71, and 79 in life insurance. Presently, before her passing she became an entrepreneur by forming her own company: Empower To Soar LLC. Gissel at an early age developed a wonderful relationship with God. She was drawn to the beautiful things of spirit. She was connected with Mother Nature and appreciated a wonderful sunset and the brightness of a beautiful morning. But most importantly, she had a very close and lovely relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She did everything in her power to follow and exercise Jesus Christ’s doctrine. Her love for people and animals was very evident. At the age of six, she began her journey of kindness and compassion towards human beings and animals, inevitably she always brought home wounded puppies, kittens, lizards and little birds, cared for them, released them once they healed and found good homes for the dogs and cats. She also noticed at a young age, that some children were less fortunate than her, therefore, she decided that every penny she earned would be assigned to buy food, clothes, and toys for the needy children and abused animals. She began by creating beautiful visors with bright little stones, jewelry boxes,
beautiful broaches, pendants and bracelets made out of bread dough. All the sales income from her charity work would go to the needy children and abused animals. Gissel was an earth angel and she walked the talk. She was filled with happiness, enthusiasm, motivation, kindness, compassion, generosity and empathy. But most importantly, her heart was filled with pure love and joy. She treated humanity the way everyone was meant to be treated; with consideration, kindness, love and respect. Gissel was the vivid example of God’s existence.
