

Jamal Marcellus Deckard, was born October 19, 1968 in Berkeley, California. Jamal is the son of the late Jimmy Deckard, Sr. and Barbara Sanders. At the age of 6 years old, Jamal was adopted by L. C. Grays who was a father to him. Jamal grew up and lived a beautiful life with a lot of unconditional love. He attended Norwood Elementary School in Los Angeles, California and Chino High School in Chino, California and graduated in 1986. Following High school Jamal attended Chaffey College and attained an associate of Arts degree. Jamal enrolled in Marinello Schools of Beauty for Barbering. He worked for 12 years as a Barber at various Barber shops in the Pomona Valley Area.
He lived in the cities of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Ontario. He lived in a village where there was wisdom, love and respect along with good training.
Jamal was a people person, he loved everyone. Jamal said “I love everyone, no matter if they are rich or poor.” He treated people the same.
Jamal loved his family and his children; Brandon Deckard, Camrhi Robinson-Deckard and his grandson Kayiden Deckard, who was his world. He cherished being a father.
Jamal was an excellent barber. He was one of the top barbers in the city of Ontario. He started liking sports at a very young age. His favorite sports were football and basketball. He was a fan of the Raiders and L. A. Lakers
Jamal was very particular about his eating habits, which he always emphasized to everyone. He loved to cook so much that he wanted to go to school to become a Chef.
Before Jamal’s grandmother departed this world she told him “If someone does you wrong you do not have to do anything, to them but leave them right there. God will take care of them.”
His life will be remembered by his Mother, Barbara Grays; Brother, Jimmy E. Deckard (Jennifer); Father L.C. Grays; Son, Brandon Deckard; Daughter, Camrhi Robinson-Deckard; Grandson, Kayiden Deckard and a host of family and friends.
