

James passed away peacefully at his home in Ontario, California on June 23, 2025 at the age of 90.
He was born on April 28, 1935 in Pomona, California to parents Earl and Francis.
He graduated from Pomona High School in 1952. He was married to Barbara Lee Collins for
55 years until her passing in 2015. He was a Korean War Veteran and served in the United States Navy
as Engineman 3rd Class from 1952 to 1956. He worked as a Correctional Program Supervisor for the
State of California Department of Corrections from 1958 to 1972. He obtained his A.S. Degree in
Correctional Science from Chaffey College in 1974. He then worked as a tool and die maker for
General Electric Company in Ontario, California from 1972 to 1982. He then worked as a machinist
until he retired.
He was a proud father of two daughters and four sons. He was a great husband and father, and a
great role model for all that knew him. He enjoyed camping, fishing, water skiing, and target shooting
with his collection of guns. He participated in wild west gunslinger re-enactments. He loved collecting
and repairing watches. He also collected knives and loved sharpening them.
James was also a Raiders fan, a lifetime NRA member, and he liked country western music and any
western movie- especially with John Wayne.
He is survived by his children: Edward C. Collins, Lucinda Lee Graniel, and James Lee Collins, Jr., grandchildren: Brandon Craven, Jamie Craven, Charlene Williams, Joseph Graniel, Rikki Graniel,
Donald Tyler, Paula Hoagland, Stefany Unda, and Rene Lozano, nephews and nieces: Christopher Collins, Laverne Holden, David McGrew, Edie Williams, Janice Stagg, and Anthony Taylor, and great grandchildren: Kristina Lozano, Joseph Braun, and Cody Silva, along with their families.
He will be missed.
