He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl and their daughter Leanne and Jim’s sister Nan Kay Semon.
Jim and Cheryl were married April 15, 1965. They expressed their love to family and friends by hosting artfully prepared and impeccably presented dinners throughout their lives together.
Jim was born March 14, 1940 in Virginnia, Minnesota to Donald Breed Semon and Doris Marina (Soneson) Semon. He is survived by his brother John (Kay)Semon, Niece Ali Semon Jansen cousins Ron Sisel, Gary Sisel, and Kathy Sisel and their beloved families. The ten of us were raised as one large family by our father, mother, uncle and aunt. Cousins were, in practice, brothers and sisters.
He attended Garden Grove High School before graduating from University of Southern California. He was a proud USC Trojan where he pitched baseball during the Rod Dedeau era.
Jim surely was his own man. He had a unique style that he expressed throughout his life. He was a teacher and baseball coach at Chaffey Highschool. He made an impact on hundreds of students that continue to contribute to their respective communities today. They still respectfully and lovingly refer to Jim as “coach.”
We are grateful for 5 years of skillful home care provided by Kim Pearson and the joyful high school memories and hope that Clareen Dunivin shared with Jim in his final year.
