Jeff leaves behind his loving Wife of 32 years, Cathleen, their Son Garrett, his Daughter Maegen Jantz and her Husband Jason, his Mother Marjorie Norman, his Sister Elaine Johnson and his Brother, Lee Wentz and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Jeff loved his family to no end and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t have done for them. Amazingly, he loved his friends in much the same way. To be loved by Jeff was just like being one of his family members.
At the time of his passing, Jeff was a 27 year veteran and highly respected Lead Homicide Detective with the Ontario Police Department in California. He was passionate about his calling in life and left no stone unturned in his mission to be a part of a team that worked diligently at bringing forward justice for his victims and their families.
He was a mentor to many new detectives, corporals and officers. They were able to glean much from his knowledge leadership and passion for his career and that will be hard to replace.
Jeff had a passion for fitness and life in general. For a man of his years, he was in amazing shape. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.
For those of us who know Jeff best, we know his legacy in his life and in his work will never be forgotten and his legacy will live forever in our hearts.
Jeff’s death was untimely and though we are all shocked that he is no longer with us, we know this is only temporary. We take comfort in knowing that by the grace of God, we will all have an opportunity to see him again in Heaven.
Jeff touched so many lives in so many ways it is immeasurable. For this is the reason it makes our grief inconsolable at times. Jeff would not want for us to mourn his passing; he would want us to celebrate his life with Christ Jesus. That’s what he asked for and that’s what we intend to do.
Rest easy Jeff, we’ll see you soon!
Amen!
