Jerry Lane Davis

Jerry was the youngest of four brothers, Ruel Davis, Robert Lyn Davis, and James Davis. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and siblings.

Jerry met Shirley Joyce Hathorn, the love of his life, at 33rd Ave Highschool, Gulfport MS. They became high school sweethearts and later married on December 24, 1967. During this time Jerry was enlisted in the military and later reenlisted and retired as Master Sergent in 2007 from the United States Army.

On September 26,1971, Jerry and Shirley welcomed their only daughter, Cynthia Davis. Cynthia was and still is Daddy’s little girl. Cynthia gave Jerry and Shirley their only grandson Jeremiah Lane Davis on December 8,2006. Jeremiah was Papa’s love, and they shared a relationship like no other. On May 24,2025 Jerry was able to walk Cynthia down the aisle to her new husband, Michael Johnson.

Jerry was a mentor to many in his military community and served as the head of the Deacon board and many other leadership positions.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter Cynthia, grandson, Jeremiah, and son in law Michael, and a host of family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, protection, kindness, and compassion that will be carried on by his family and friends.
