

John was born on June 9, 1944 in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Fontana High School in 1962. He attended Chaffey Junior College graduating with an Associate of Science Degree in engineering in 1965. From 1965-1966 he was employed by Rocketdyne who NASA contracted at Edwards Air Force Base during the Apollo mission. In 1966 he went to work at General Telephone in their engineering department. In 1971 he attended Cal Poly Pomona graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture.
John was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard after serving from 1965-1971. He worked at various positions utilizing his Landscape Architect design and planning skills from 1975 to 1991, i.e. Armstrong Nurseries, Mimack Engineering, and Nakano & Rosenfeld Associates. In 1992, his last position was working as principal director of design for Architerra Design Group in Rancho Cucamonga, retiring in 2004. His work was marked by diligence, reliability and a job well done. He enjoyed gardening and was a gun enthusiast and 2nd Amendment advocate.
Throughout his life, John's quiet generosity and kind-hearted nature was felt by those who knew him. Though he will be missed dearly, his memory and legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Cookie De Ambrogio), sister-in-law Bonnie Kinney, sister-in law Pat Federico, niece Jan and husband Darren Ryan, niece Kim McLendon, great-nephew A.J. McLaughlin, his wife Shannon and their children C.J. and Parker, great-niece Maegen Ryan, great-niece Kristen McLendon and cousin Larry DeJohn.
