

John Frederick Fenton of Rancho Cucamonga passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 27, 2010. John, second child of Alec & Oonah Fenton born Dec. 5th 1947 in Maymyo, Burma, was educated in Burma and became a Master Tailor by trade. The Fenton family immigrated to the US in 1977, settling in Upland. John's first employment was with St. Mark's Episcopal Church and School, Upland. He later resumed his career as a Master Tailor in Beverly Hills, Studio City and Newport Beach. He furthered his education at local area Community Colleges and pursued his thirst for knowledge in auto mechanics and computers. He was well versed in world affairs and politics via daily BBC radio broadcasts and national & international TV. He was keen on learning American culture and "American English" & the structure of government. He became a proud US citizen on Nov. 22nd 1985 and exercised his right and duty to vote in the next election and ne ver missed an election thereafter. John had broad tastes in music and favored doo-wap and musical groups of the 60's. Despite his hearing handicap he was a good drummer and an excellent dancer. John loved to travel and visited friends and family all over the world and paid homage to his grade school teachers in Israel, UK, Australia and Burma. John visited family and sought out former classmates in Burma and was instrumental in establishing the Annual Teacher Appreciation Day of Cusack School, Maymy o - "Per Caritatem Servite Invicem". Members of St. Mark's Parish were his 2nd family and John was a friend to one and all. He served as Verger for formal parish services. John was very proud of his family's Anglo-Burmese heritage. He was pre- deceased by his father and sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his mother Oonah Fenton, sister Peggy Yang, brother Michael Fenton and nephews Lionel and Stanley Yang, Matthew and Sean Fenton. Visitation on Feb. 5, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00pm at Draper Mort uary. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Feb 6th at 10:00AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 330 E. 16th Street, Upland, CA 91786. Interment will follow immediately at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, John Fenton Memorial Fund.
