Querida Mamá,

 As we mourn your passing, our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, and Godmother, while my heart is heavy, I celebrate your life. What a life!  
 I will always treasure our times together throughout the years. 
 Your love of  our family history was eloquently expressed during the many, many hours that I spent listening to you in your wonderful story telling voice describing all  of our ancestors. Even though they were long gone, your vivid descriptions brought them to life to me. So much so that I could see them!   While I remember many of the people from your stories, there were a lot that I never met and only knew them thru the gift of your magnificent storytelling, filled with details and emotion. You introduced me to Papa Nico's mother and her sisters,  your Nina, your aunts, so many of Mama Lao's ancestors so long gone but never forgotten thanks to your memories and passing them on to me. 
Our family tree's  branches are heavy and stretch far and wide.
I will miss your annual retelling the story of my birth on that early, rainy dawn.  
 The times spent together traveling will always be precious memories. The trips we took to Guadalajara,  el  Hospicio Cabañas, Talpa, Tonaya, La Liebre, to La Labor to show me the little house where I was born. Our trip to Mexico to show Jordan the places of  our childhood and where we came from are unforgettable. 
  I treasure my stack of lengthy letters you wrote to me throughout the years, so full of your joys, sorrows, dreams, faith in people and hope.  Always hope; you never lost hope, to the end. 
 I treasure all the blessings you bestowed upon my little family and I am so grateful of your joyful approval over choices I've made in my life.
May God Almighty grant your soul eternal peace.

Mamita, 
It's quiet here, in your haciendita, but a lone dove sings her early morning song by your door. The little animals also seem to know that you're not with us anymore, but you have left an immeasurable, and everlasting legacy of your love  that we will hold in our hearts forever.
Although, I know you're in heaven with all our loved ones who have gone before us, I miss your presence, your smiles, your cooking recipe lessons, no matter how old we were, your planting & sewing of seeds lessons, and sharing just a cheese taco and salsa with you, but I will hold near and dear to us always, all the memories and blessings that you bestowed upon each and everyone of us.
