"Lauri grew up on a farm in Illinois. As a child, she grew up around goats, cows, and pigs. She loved the small baby goats. She would nurture them and feed them as if they were her own little kids. She showed goats and cows at fairs in Illinois and the surrounding states up until she graduated from college in 1985.
After high school, she attended Pensacola Christian College where she graduated 4 years later with a degree in Elementary Education. She was then recruited by a non denominational church in central New Jersey to teach Kindergarten and First grade in their Christian school.
Lauri didn't start dating Adel at that church until June 1988 after the Belmont stakes. Immediately, they began spending time together every single day. At that time, Adel was working as a computer programmer for a small company and wasn't trucking.
After only several weeks of dating, it was very obvious to both of them that they were going to get married. Adel did formally ask her to marry him on Thanksgiving day 1988 and married in July 1989.
Since Adel had already been a trucker throughout the eighties, they both decided to run team together after he taught her how to drive a semi. The plan was to truck for several years, get off the road, and buy a ranch. Plans were frustrated and they were still trucking together 30 years later.
Lauri and Adel both loved the outdoors, the majestic scenery, and constantly criss crossing the country. They loved every part of the US for it's uniqueness, landscape, and the people of the different states. They often saw weather conditions, sunrises, and sunsets that were unique and fleeting.
They always treasured the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, the privilege of visiting different states, and seeing the different cities evolve and grow. They often remembered that they were privileged and never took it for granted.
Soon after marrying, they began running team together and frequented the Petro in Ontario CA which originally was a TA truck stop. The truck stop became their safe haven and favorite hangout over the last 30 years. Over the years, the staff changed but they were always like family. Lauri and Adel always genuinely cared about the people that welcomed them with open hearts, made them feel at home, and took care of them like family.
Lauri leaves begind her devoted and loving husband Adel. Ever since they married and began trucking together, they never left each other's side. They weren't only each other's spouse, they were best friends, companions, business partners, and life partners. They enjoyed 30 years delighting in each other's company while working, struggling, learning, adapting, living, loving, giving, and sharing in life's journey together.
Lauri's welcoming heart, her child like innocence, and her inviting smile always brightened the atmosphere and drew people to her!!! Lauri, her energy, her smile, and her open heart will be missed greatly by everyone that knew her!!!"
