Berry, Mia S. Bennett, Daniel K. Berry and Salome K. Berry. Marc had suffered a stroke in August that he was still struggling to recover from at the time of his passing, disrupting his brief retirement after a storied career in the building industry that lasted for nearly 5 decades.
A product of Upland public schools Marc attended Chaffey College in the 1970’s and completed the Carpenter’s Apprenticeship program while a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and an employee of the firm began by his grandfather Nathaniel E. McMurray Construction and ASR Constructors as well as a few other firms and joint ventures. Marc was well known for his ability to retain information and accurately estimate materials, especially concrete construction. Marc worked on and oversaw the construction of a great many civic buildings and schools throughout the Inland Empire and Southern California, including projects at every school he ever attended.
Marc was also a family man, who despite being long estranged from his parents and siblings, took great care to provide opportunities for his wife, children and grandchildren to have fulfilling lives. Marc’s wife of over 44 years, Patricia (Patti) was his high school sweetheart and best friend for almost 50 years. Marc was a true son of the Inland Valley, having spent his entire life as a resident of Upland and Alta Loma. Though not a religious man, Marc had great faith in his friends and family and an unwavering work ethic that allowed him to accomplish a great deal. Marc was a fan of popular music and many of California’s professional and collegiate sports teams. Marc lived to see both of his children graduate from University and obtain multiple degrees. Services for Marc will be held on January 15th, 2018 at 11:00 am at Draper Mortuary in Ontario, California. Marc will be missed by his loved ones and he will be remembered by all who knew him.
