Mary Jean (Peggy) Armstrong was born on January 15, 1945, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to her parents, Claude Wiggins Sr. and Emma Jean Johnson Wiggins. She later moved to California in 1965, where she built her life and career.
Peggy retired from the State of California and went on to work with Gloria McLeod, U.S. State Representative, City Councilman Dr. Kenneth Orduna, and the late City Councilman Mervyn Dymally. Her career reflected her dedication to service and her commitment to her community.
Peggy was a woman full of life who loved dancing, cooking, fitness programs, and barbecuing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandbabies.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse Armstrong, her parents, and her siblings Debra Brown Wiggins, Dale Wiggins, Don Johnson, and Claudia Wiggins.
She leaves behind her loving children: Stephanie Orange, San Jacinto, California, Anthony Askew (Daphne) Glendora, California and Angela Diaz (Joe) Ontario, California. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Wiggins and Cynthia Wiggins, her brothers Claude Wiggins, Wade Runnels, and Chris Runnels—all of Carlsbad, New Mexico—along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Peggy’s life was filled with love, laughter, and faith. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
