

Mary Evelyn Todd Mooney (also known as Mary T. Mooney, Mary Evelyn Todd, Mary Evelyn Bogard and Grandma Mary) was born on February 12, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky and later moved to Upland, California. She passed away on March 27, 2025, in Rancho Cucamonga, California, at the age of 99.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ila Bogard, brother, Robert (Bobby) Lee Bogard, as well as her beloved husbands, Richard J. Todd and Walter "Russ" Mooney. She is survived by her four daughters: Colleen (Tina) May Todd Marzec, Kathleen Jeanette Todd Keltner (Gary Gene Keltner), Barbara Ann Todd Madison (James Joseph Madison), and Lynnette Yvonne Todd Browning (Griffith Albert Browning), along with 7 grandchildren: Evangeline Nicole Mae Marzec, Christopher James Keltner (Jennifer Dawn Keltner), Valerie Lynn (Keltner) Benitez, Michael Ernest Keltner (Christa Joy Keltner), Richard Edward Madison, Rebecca Jamaee (Browning) Bruinekool (Tyler Patrick Bruinekool-Deceased), Joseph Griffith Browning (Brittney Christian Browning), 13 great-grandchildren: Preston Brady Keltner, William Alexander Benitez, Isaac Matthew Benitez, Ellie Cathleen Benitez, Mason James Keltner, Brayden Garrett Keltner, Kennedy Grace Keltner, Weston Nathaniel Keltner, Caitlynn (Davis-Madison) Harrington (William) , Koa Patrick Bruinekool, Kalea Tyler Jamaee Bruinekool, Callie Christine Browning, Torrie Josephine Browning, Brody Joseph Browning (arriving in April 2025) and one great-great-grandchild: Brooklyn Rose Davis-Madison.
Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She graduated from El Monte High School in 1944 and completed a year of secretarial school before embarking on a diverse career. She retired after serving 24 years as a court clerk for the San Bernardino County Superior Court.
Beyond her professional life, Mary moved to Upland in 1959 and was deeply engaged in her community. She was an active member of the Upland High School Band Boosters, participated in Upland Parks and Recreation dance and exercise programs, and was a proud member of The Red Hat Society. Her passions included country music, big band music and a love for dance which spanned many styles, including line, tap, ballroom, and one of her favorites—the hula. She also had a love for travel, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart.
Mary’s interests were as vibrant as her spirit. She enjoyed family, auto racing, cheered for the Angels baseball team, collecting antiques, fine china, and dolls.
Mary lived a long and full life; she will be deeply missed after passing on from her ninety-nine years of earthly life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dementia Society for Lewy Body Research or to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Services will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario, CA on April 11, 2025 at 10:30am.
