Rae Anne was born on October 26, 1955, in Missouri, to Donna and Charles Bachman. Rae Anne was a participant in Special Olympics, and she took quiet pride in showing up, doing her best, and enjoying the experience. She also worked proudly until 67 years old and valued the independence she built for herself, including owning her own home for 27 years.
Rae Anne found comfort and joy in the simple pleasures that made life feel familiar and full. Her favorite music was Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys. She enjoyed watching MeTV (especially Emergency!, Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, M*A*S*H, and WWE), and she also enjoyed going to the regional center. Her favorite place to visit was Hawaii, and she liked to eat at Burger King, Sizzler, and Corky’s.
Her faith and community were important to her, and she was connected with the Nazarene Church of Ontario.
Those who knew Rae Anne will remember her steady warmth and consideration for others. She was amazing at word searches, and she carried a thoughtful attentiveness that made people feel remembered. She never forgot a birthday card, made sure everyone received a Christmas present, and took genuine pride in the time she spent with family and loved ones, especially on vacations. When asked how she was doing, she would so often offer the simple reassurance: “I’m Ok.”
Rae Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Guthridge; her husband, Daniel Layton; her father, Charlie; her mother, Donna; her brother, Jay; her stepfather, Paul; her niece, Kelly; her nephew, Ethan; and her grandparents.
