Raul Burgess Ramos

Raul Burgess Ramos was a caring husband, father, grandpa, great-great grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2023. Raul was born in Presidio Texas. Growing up he lived in Texas, Miami Arizona, and Chino, California. He and his wife Helen raised their kids in Chino. In retirement he lived in Pomona, Hesperia, and eventually moved back to Chino. As a boy he sold newspapers and did shoe shines in Los Angeles. He also traveled up and down the state picking fruit with his parents and sister. Raul married Helen Tapia on August 26, 1951. Raul and Helen had been married for 70 years. They had six children Gloria Campos, Cathy Campos, Dave Ramos, Linda Rocha, Laurie Ramirez, and Sandra Ramos. Raul and his father were one of the first fertilizer distributing trucking companies to distribute fertilizer to all the dairies in the Chino area. Later in life he did cement work and worked as an asphalt machine operator. He gave his life to the Lord in 1973. He loved to watch Jimmy Swaggart and loved to go to the casino. Raul retired in 1975. In retirement he and his wife Helen had a food trailer that they worked out of the Victorville Swap Meet. Their food was tasty and always drew a line of people every weekend. In 2006 he went to visit the grave site of his great and great grandparents in their family cemetery at Fort Leaton State Historic Park in Presidio Texas. This was something he had always wanted to do.

Raul is survived by six children, Gloria Campos, Cathy Campos, David Ramos, Linda (Bill) Rocha, Laurie (Pete) Ramirez, and Sandy Ramos (Jose), 25 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren, and one sister Agnes Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters Evita Ramos and Lydia Rodriguez, granddaughter La Velle Campos, grandsons Raymond Alcala, Richard Ramos Jr., and great granddaughter Serenity Aranda.

A visitation for Raul will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Draper Mortuary, 811 North Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762.

A funeral service will occur Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 811 North Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762.

A committal service will occur Friday, September 8, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Pomona Cemetery, 502 E. Franklin Avenue, Pomona, CA 91766.
