Al was a wonderful man and son in law.  We have had many family gatherings up to 25. He was my helper when it came to mechanical and construction duties. He wanted to find his family history so we searched for him. So for a kind person he was top 10. He was a wonderful father to Corey,  Brianna,  Alexa. He was wonderful  to Marland and me. We will miss him so much. 

 I will always remember when someone ask  where you were when John Lennon was shot, I'll always remember being over Al's watching Monday night football. 😢

I lived next door at 10254 Marion Ave until 1973. One time my brother, Al, and I thought it would be fun to use his dad’s cigarette lighter to melt plastic army men in the hedge on the north side of his house. We caught the hedge on fire - the fire department had to put it out before the house caught on fire. I got so scared I ran and hid under my bed and I ignored my mom calling for me. All she saw was the hedge on fire where she knew we were playing. She was so relieved when she found me. Then she whooped me good. I had it coming. 🙂

I have known al for 40 years  I use to go to school with him when we went 😢we use to pile in his truck and off to the beach or mountains he was a great guy he was in my wedding plus i hung out at his house all the time I have great memories of him god bless you I will miss you untill we meet again love u

I met Al my freshman yr. Montclair High . 
We became really close friends for yrs . We used to hang out in his room in the backyard of his parents house. Not only me . But a crew of close friends . We would listen to hard rock and party until we were thrown out by his Mom lol . 
We stayed in touch for years . When I was going through some crazy times. He would be there for me ALWAYS.  He was one of the best people you would ever meet . He had so much love in his heart it would never run out .  Al is with God now he is still alive. He just was called home to heaven a lil early .  I have so many memories . I Remember Al the most for his pure heart , kindness and gentle spirit. 

In 2011, I met my husband Corey and shortly after, I was introduced to my father-in-law, Al. From the moment I met him, he considered me as one of his own kids. Anything my family and I needed help with, he was there. Al was so selfless when it came to putting his family’s needs first. Whenever we needed assistance with a home improvement project, Al came ready to help.  When Corey & I needed a night out to ourselves, he was eager to take the boys off our hands for a bit. When we wanted to go have some fun,  he pulled out all the stops for an amazing time, whether it be a day at the gun range or a fun family outing. He always went out of his way for us and made every occasion and holiday  memorable and special.  It was always “go big or go home!” We’ll never forget the holidays and just special days and adventures spent with him. And he was the best Papa. He spoiled and loved my boys so much. I really lucked out when God chose Al to be my father-in-law and when he chose Al to be my boys’ Papa❤️ We’ll cherish each memory and hold you near to our hearts forever, Papa. We love you. 

I have known Al for over 40 years. I use to date Dave Lawrence and he and Al were good friends. Most of the time it was us 3 hanging out. Al was always making me laugh and I will always remember his sweet smile. Al was a honest, sweet, giving person and you knew you could always count on him to be there for you. God gained another Angel, until we meet again Al! God Bless 🙏🏻

I have been neighbors with Al Marquez for at least 10 years. We became close friends and shooting buddies during this time. Al was the best neighbor and friend someone could have asked for. He was always ready to lend a hand with any home improvement or fixit chores. I learned quite a bit from Al over the years as well.   He was part of what made our neighborhood great. You will be missed my friend. 

One day a while back I was about to make the bed.  My husband was gone already.  Under the sheet I saw what looked like a lizard. It was the outline of a lizard.  It was the shape and thickness  of a lizard.   I was sure it was a lizard.  I am not the girl scout type who could just grab it and take it outside.  I went outside to see who I could impose upon to come get it.  I went to Al's a few doors down and asked him if he would please come remove the lizard.  He grabbed some kitchen gloves, some kitchen tongs, and a bucket and came over.  He pulled off the sheet and lo and behold we had ourselves a laugh.  It was nothing more than some coiled up yarn.

First of all thank you all for everything & all the stories. Where to start... 24 yrs ago when I was 11 & my brother 7 we met pops (AL). Since the day he came into our lives he always treated us as his own he really loved us he would do anything for us. He was so loving & patient & believe me we tested him at times lol. I was a pain in the butt at first & through my teens yet he never gave up he just tried harder.  Growing up he was my softball coach,my protector, the man that could fix anything and a man that had a million ideas & fun things to do, the man I looked up to... he was dad. He was there when we needed someone the most, he was there when it counted, he was reliable & he was always real with us & he taught me to be a very strong person & how to accept love & best of all he helped give us our sister Alexa. As hard as the days can be at times I know he would want us all to be strong, happy & remember all the good times, not be sad. I have so many great memories with him, our family was very close he was there for every holiday, birthday & life's milestone. He was always willing to help anyone with anything & everything he had  even the worst of duties lol. I will miss him so much but I know our pops & I feel comforted that he is still protecting & loving us from above.  I love you Pops & I'll miss you. <3 Bri Bri

I met Al at The Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino in  2011. He was friends with John Young and at that point our friend circle grew by one. The following month I invited him to my big Five 0 birthday party. In the last 9 years we have been to countless car shows, 4th of July events and Super Bowl parties. Like many others did I called him bro and he did the same.
He was a very giving guy. Always there to help. 
In the last couple years he was always making sure my aging dad could still get to car shows with us. Al volunteered to drive my dad. No matter how early we had to get up Al was ready to make sure my dad wasn’t left out from taking his vintage ride to the local shows. 
I admired him for the father he was. His children came first. I am really glad I told him that on a few occasions. He was proud of them and his friends knew it. 
It is sad to know he is gone but he left a lasting impression with us. I miss you Al you left us to soon but I know God has a plan for you. I am grateful we were friends my brother.

Al, such a wonderful, sweet man. I started with knowing Al from being hired as the live-in nanny. And in time,  we became so close that we shared the same sentiment toward one another; we had become like siblings. Al was truly like a brother to me. We'd ask each other advice from budgetting to dating, teasing and laughing, sharing family moments with Alexa by playing silly dance videos or buying special gifts. We knew we would always stay in touch and always have each other's backs. Our biggest connection,  naturally was Alexa. I was very honored that his referral letter conveyed his sentiment of his appreciation in my part of assisting with her upbringing. He indeed was a family man, and celebrated many family occasions at their home. I was always made to feel welcome to family functions.  His influence with his older daughter and son were easily seen by how well they all got along and how they were all so closely bonded with such a loving connection.  It was beautful to witness. Al truly loved all his family, friends, and neighbors; he just had this big huge heart!  If anyone needed any help, and Al could assist, he would.  I'm so sadddened to be saying these words so early for a such a good man who loved life so much.  I'm blessed to have known Al.  He will always have a piece of my heart and so too will his precious asset, that became precious to me as well, dearest, Alexa.  Thank you, Al, for your love, laughter, and kindess. You are a leading example of how we should all carry on. ❤🧭

Al was simply the most kindest, loving, generous and giving man I’ve ever met. 
He loved his family beyond measure. 
His friends he held dear to his heart. 
We shared a million laughs, while doing so many things we both loved. 
The last thing we did together, just as covid was hitting,  was go on a cruise. He surprised me in Ensenada, with the opportunity to see and handle tons of animals, including a baby tiger. What a memory.
I’m sure gonna miss you forever babe-

I first met Al 15 or 16 years ago when we both moved into the new neighborhood in Los Colinas.  Because everyone was new, we became very close in the neighborhood.  Al & I became friends immediately and stayed in touch when he moved out a year or two later.  Al and my youngest daughter Brooklyn  bonded early on because their birthdays were a day apart and Al never forgot her birthday and always gave her something.  He was one of the most generous people I ever knew. 
 Al and I had similar interests and we would get together at parties or go to dinner or have a few beers whenever we could get together.  Over the years we went to many places and had many good times.
Al used to go to car shows with me and he was introduced to all of my car buddies and became one of the group.  When my friend Mark's dad passed away, Mark asked Al if he would like to drive his dad's car to the shows with us.  Al loved driving that car and he looked great in that 38 Chevy Coupe.  We all loved Al and he really fit in with the guys.  I'm attaching a  picture of Al at one of our car functions.  I regret that I didn't take more.
As most everyone knew, Al could fix anything and I sure used him on many occasions.  He was always willing to help people with their house problems.  
I'm really going to miss Al, and I'm honored that we became friends. 
I thank God for allowing Al to become part of my life and I'm proud that he was my friend.  I will miss him terribly but I have comfort knowing that he's in a much better place.  
 He was truly a very caring and wonderful man.
Rest in peace Uncle Al.

1990-1994 Al, Mike Auldridge, and I were Maintenance at Evergreen Apartments in Rancho Cucamonga. We were a great team that complimented each other. Al was also my Assistant Coach for my son’s youth basketball team. We used to do things together outside of work like going up to MT Baldy to shoot guns with my kids or doing things with Mike and Lisa who had a boat. Al has always stayed in contact with us over the years, more so since he got on Facebook. 5 years ago I was training in Ontario Al was the only one to meet up with me and go discuss old times and family. Al loved his children more than anything, so I ask you all to remember the good things about Al and he will always be with us.

Ashley wanted to add this picture as well. This is the Marquez family for Thanksgiving in 2018. We all got together and it was a beautiful day and dinner. 

I met Uncle Al when I joined the Marquez family, 3 years ago.  From the day I met him, he made me feel like a part of the family.  He was always there to help us when we needed it (even helping to bust out our concrete patio!) and always made us feel loved.  He will be greatly missed.
