In celebration of the life of God's angel - Rosalyn
Rosalyn Yvonne Braxton was born May 14, 1955 to Juanita Finney Braxton and Harold Braxton, Sr in Cleveland, Ohio. Rosalyn joined her two older siblings: Harold, Jr., and Linda.
The family moved to Pomona, California where Rosalyn attended school and graduated from Park Avenue High School in 1973. She met Craig W. Moss at Park Avenue HS. From their long-term relationship was born two beautiful baby boys, Craig Duane and Tevell Da-shan Moss.
Rosalyn worked as a food technician at Lanterman Hospital. In 1985 she graduated from the Correctional Officer academy and became a Correctional Officer at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, CA. She did this until her tragic car accident.
On December 13, 2018, Rosalyn succumbed to health complications brought on by prolonged injuries she sustained from the car accident. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Juanita Braxton. She is survived by her father Harold, Sr., brother Harold Jr, and sister Linda of Upland, California, sons Craig Moss Jr. from Southern California and Tevell Moss of Akron, Ohio, nieces Karen Gray and Latricia Braxton of Pomona, California, nephew Rickey Jordan of Northern California, grandchildren Craig Moss, II, Marquise, and Markell from San Bernardino, Tevell Moss Jr. from Akron, Ohio, Ra-Neshia, Chevelle, Chanel, and Cherelle Moss from Akron, Ohio, great-grandchildren Jaden from Akron, Ohio, Uriah, Jayden, and Willie Moss from San Bernardino, California, Zoe Moss from Tennessee, numerous in laws Tina Foster of Victorville, California, Steve Moss, Donald Moss, and Debra Moss all from Southern California, cousins Kim Finney Boxley and Lori Finney from Cleveland, Ohio, and long- time friend TommyTucker.
Rosalyn was a devoted child of Christ who practiced the freeing power of forgiveness during tragedy and adversity. She was a truly selfless person who did not allow challenges to get the better of her station in life. Rosalyn stepped out as far as she could on faith. She often said to me during phone conversations, “Debbie every day I am getting stronger and stronger and I am healing correctly." Rosalyn did not judge you instead she was more concerned about your wellbeing. Two years ago, she said to me, “Debbie, I have been praying for you over the years I am so glad to see you."
Rosalyn was a caring and adoring mother to her two sons Craig, Jr. and Tevell Moss. Like her upbringing, Rosalyn, raised her boys to be decent, loving, and honest.
Rosalyn was a sweet, kind, and upright person. She was tested and tested every day and like a phoenix rising she endured and persevered human tragedy and adversity.
Rosalyn is who we all aspire to be.
