Stella enjoyed a rich and adventurous life. She married her high school sweetheart John Lombardo with whom she had 5 children. Later she wedded Edward Rubidoux with whom she celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Having retired from Chaffey Unified School District after 23 years of faithful service, she travelled the world with friends and family. Stella was always game for anything. She was an athlete, playing tennis, pickle ball, golf and ran mini marathons. She twice won the Oceanside Turkey Trot 5k for age group. Stella learned to ski in her early forties, always saying if she wasn’t a pro on the slopes, she sure looked hot in her bunny suit. In her youth she was on the school basketball and softball teams. She passed on her love of sports to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Padres fan (unless the Dodgers were playing).
Stella is survived by her children John (Diana), Deborah Crider, Roger(Lisa), Wayne(Bev), Denise Schofield (Scott), grandchildren Ashley Pfahler (Ross), Brianna Schofield, Anthony Lombardo and Michael Lombardo, great grandchildren Violet and Kent Pfahler and countless nieces and nephews.
Not a day will pass that we won’t miss her. We will remember fondly her many antics and lessons she taught us. Most importantly that we must all live every moment as if it were our last.
A service celebrating her life will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, July 28, 2025 beginning at 10:00am. Church address is 2110 N. San Antonio Ave., Upland, CA 91784. A repast/reception to follow in church hall. We respectfully request you wear bright, cheerful colors in her honor. Purple was her favorite.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you make charitable donations to The American Lung Association.
