

Tony G. Flores was born April 23, 1919 at California Street in Ontario. Parents were Francisco and Rafaela Flores. He had 3 brothers, Frank Eddie and Rudy that he is now joining. Tony Flores attended Grove school and Vina Danks Jr. High School. In 1941 he married Encarnacion G. Gutierrez (Chona). He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years from 1943-1945 and was a WWII veteran who served in the South Pacific, New Guinea, Australia, Philippines and Japan. In 1942 Tony and Chona started their family of 5 boys; Bobby, Anthony, John, Henry and Sammy Flores and 5 beautiful girls: Alice Banuelos, Carol Obregon, Patsy Flores, Susan Flores and Anita Delatorre. Over the years Tony worked as a fertilizer truck driver in Ontario, General Electric and as a custodian for St. Anthony's Catholic Church for 23 years and retired from St. Anthony's at the age of 86. Tony and Chona were blessed with 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and more to come. The Flores family grew and grew; Tony and Chona celebrated their 50th, 60th and 73rd wedding anniversaries. In his wife's eyes, Tony was "the best husband" wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loving, caring, respectful, faithful, trustworthy, friendly, generous, devoted to his family, loved everyone, taught his children to believe and honor God, but most of all loved his country the United States of America.
