Dear Aunt Fern, Matt and Peter,

My condolences on the loss of Uncle Val. I'll add to my brother David's story about shooting rats at the dump. Rick and I did get to shoot with a 22 rifle. This was the first time we ever shot a rifle and Val gave us very good safety instructions. But what was even more impressive was Val. He had a six shooter with cowboy holster. He was quick drawing and shooting rats. We grew up with Westerns so I had more fun watching Uncle Val than shooting. He was always quick to tease but his laugh made it easy to take. I will always remember him with great fondness.

I remember Uncle Val (Pit) when we were living in Hartford, CY and I remeber he was in uniform.  I also remeber that he took us hunting rats at the Madawaska dump and although I was too young to shoot, I think my brothers (Skip and Rick) might have.  He was a good man and Matt I loved the eulogy.  Thank you for sharing that.  David Martin

Uncle Val was my Godfather and I have very fond memories of him.  Our last conversation was at my mom's 80th birthday party.  Before they left he walked over to me and said, "Lisa, I really like your new husband and I approve of him.  I just wanted you to know that".  That really meant a lot to me and I will always remember that conversation.  Rest in Peace Uncle Val...love you and will miss you.

I have both warm and fun memories of Uncle Val. He and his generation of our uncles taught us much, and for that, we are eternally grateful. May his soul rest in the peace of Christ.

Aunt Fern, Matt and Peter, All of us who knew him will remember his smile, his hearty laugh, his kind heart. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope joyful memories sustain you throughout this heart-wrenching time.  I will pray for you all, as I pray for my Uncle Val.

Fern, Matthew and Peter ~ May it comfort you to know that many lives were brightened and many hearts will always remember Val, a person well loved. Let us celebrate the good life he had, a life well lived, for those he loved and those he loved remember.I will remember my brother. I am thankful for all the special moments that Val has left me and I will see him again someday, in a heavenly place where there are no words for goodbye.
