With deep love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Vera Helen Edmon, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who peacefully left us on Dec. 27, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on July 28, 1938, in Upland, CA, Helen was a lifelong resident of her beloved hometown. She married her high school sweetheart, Hal Edmon, in 1958, and together they built a family rooted in love and faith, raising three children: Gary, Diane and Greg.
Helen’s life was marked by service, dedication, and joy. In her 20’s and 30’s, she was an active member of the Upland Nazarene Church, where she sang with the New Song choir and began her career in church administration. She later joined the First Presbyterian Church of Upland, serving as office administrator for 40 years. Helen’s commitment extended beyond her local church- she was an active member of the Administrative Personnel Association (APA) even serving as its national president, where she inspired and supported her peers.
Helen’s energy and enthusiasm were evident in all aspects of her life. She discovered a passion for aerobic dance, eventually becoming an instructor and sharing her love of movement with others. As a long-term member of the Claremont Club, she cherished both the workouts and the friendships she formed there. Helen was also an avid knitter, creating countless blankets, beanies, and other projects, and treasured the camaraderie of her knitting group.
A two-time cancer survivor, Helen faced challenges with remarkable strength and grace. She became a source of comfort and guidance for many other breast cancer survivors, always willing to lend an understanding ear.
Above all, Helen’s greatest joy was her family. She loved each member deeply and lit up whenever she spoke of them. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be dearly missed.
Helen survived by her loving husband, Hal, and her children: Gary Edmon, Diane (Mike) Janes, and Greg (Gina) Edmon.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Steven Edmon, Jenna Janes, Marisa Janes, Christopher Edmon, and Erin Edmon; and her great-grandchildren, Eli and Levi Edmon.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on January 23rd at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Upland at 869 N. Euclid Ave. All who knew and loved Helen are welcome to join in.
