It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Verna "Liz" Elizabeth Otto of Ontario, California. Liz, a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, entered into rest at the age of 74 on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Liz was born in California on November 2, 1950; after graduating from Alta Loma high school, she worked for the county of San Bernardino. In the 1980’s Liz co-owned a small shop in the City of Big Bear Lake called The SnowGoose and spent many years volunteering at her daughter’s schools. She then had a long and fulfilling career as an administrator at the family’s aircraft instrument repair shop, where she dedicated herself to ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Growing up, Liz developed a love for music, particularly playing the violin, it brought her great joy to hear the beautiful melodies at her grandson’s marching band performances. Liz resided in Big Bear City for much of her adult life and was known for her stunning wildflower garden, which she took great pride in nurturing and watching bloom each year. She loved hiking with her friends, camping with her family and fishing (or really just playing in the mud) with her grandson. She loved animals, giving homes to many cats and dogs throughout the years, including the ones her daughters didn’t take with them upon moving out.
Liz leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will be carried on by her family and friends.
